The realization of a National Addressing System (NAS) received a huge boost from key stakeholders in Embu County.

The NAS Steering Committee secured the support of the Embu County Attorney Mr. Timothy Muriuki as well as the Embu County Supreme Council of Elders. Mr. Kariuki who chairs the County Attorneys caucus promised to galvanize support for the initiative among his peers across the 47 Counties. “I commit to rally my fellow learned friends who head the legal departments in the various 47 Counties to come together, review the documents handed over to me and provide our input to improve the documents,” said Mr. Kariuki. He added that they would ensure that the various bills developed to facilitate implementation of NAS at the various County levels are passed at the County Assemblies.

The Council of Elders led by Mr. Richard Nyaga welcomed the initiative promising to work closely with the authority during the implementation of the project. Mr. Nyaga is also the Chairman of The Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA). The NAS steering committee engaged stakeholders from Embu and the neighboring counties of Laikipia, Meru and Tharaka Nithi. The NAS is transformational and will greatly boost electronic commerce in the country. Through the NAS steering Committee, a number of critical documents have been developed including a draft NAS Policy, NAS Standards, NAS Database and NAS Financial Model. KARA is represented in the NAS steering committee by Mr. Paul Oyier.
