The corruption fight
There has been lots of talk and talk on procurement-related corruption fight
at high levels of Kenya government. From the Maize, Triton, Anglo Leasing to
Goldenberg and other possible scandals, it appears that it is nearly
impractical to expect the Grand Coalition Government to cost-effectively win
against crime. A lot of reasons have been advanced: from absent political
will, a divided government, the Kibaki succession intrigues, the Moi-era
hangovers in high places, a weak Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, a weak
civil society, a donor community disinterested in financing good governance
and possibly the case of a complacent citizenry which only complain if they
are not beneficiaries of corruption. What is your take and why? Share your
