BACKGROUND

The Annual Resident Associations Excellence Awards (ARAEA) is an initiative of The Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA) designed to recognize, reward and celebrate Resident Associations that have demonstrated exemplary performance in promoting access to public services and made extraordinary positive impact on their community. The awards are informed by the fact that Resident Associations play a very vital role in enhancing access to public services and improving quality of life in Kenya yet these efforts are rarely recognized and appreciated. Additionally, the awards serve to focus public attention on the importance of Resident Associations in promoting structured engagement with the government and other service delivery players as well as championing the interest of their members.

Winners of ARAEA are identified through a competitive process by competent panel of judges and awarded at a gala event. The gala event for the 4th ARAEA will be held on 10th December 2021 and will be attended by representatives of various Resident Associations; Government; Community Leaders; Media among other service delivery stakeholders. A special category has been introduced to recognize and celebrate Resident Associations that rolled out initiatives that effectively contributed to the fight against COVID 19 pandemic.
